Hola everyone! This is Billy Holley, Sales Consultant for Bakkheia Distribution in St. Louis, Missouri. Few days ago we've got the visit of Raúl Acha, Vintae winemaker and let me tell you how excited we were to welcome him to our city! I will write some posts telling you how was this visit and how much we did enjoy it! So there we go!
Tuesday evening of April 12, we were pleasantly surprised that Raul arrived in St. Louis earlier than originally scheduled so we had the luxury of spending a little more time together. That evening we brought Raul, importer Manuel Pulido of Rodinia , and Vintae Export Manager Nicole Johnson out to a welcome dinner at St. Louis institution, Atlas Restaurant in the beautiful Debaliviere area of the city’s Central West End neighborhood. Wine Director and General Manager, Marguerite Burkham was our gracious host for the evening.
It just so happened Atlas’ Spring Menu debuted that night and we had the privilege of trying several of the new dishes out while Marguerite sat down with us and tasted samples of Hacienda Lopez de Haro Tempranillo, Quatro Pagos (Matierra Dominvum) and Ribera Del Duero wines, Ars Romantica and Ars Mitica (De Bardos). All new red wines for the Missouri market. Atlas customers have really jumped on the bandwagon of Winery Arts Reverse 6 so we think these new wines will also appeal to the restaurant’s loyal regulars.
VERITAS GATEWAY TO WINE AND FOOD On Wednesdsay, April 13, we took Raul and importer out to a very special place in West County, Veritas Gateway to Wine and Food.
Veritas is an open kitchen café, wine store and gourmet gift shop all wrapped up in to one! A family owned business, owners David and Stephanie Stitt provided us with a great lunch prepared by their son and Chef, Mathis in the kitchen. As we finished our fantastic meal, David sat down and was presented four new Vintae red wines (to our market) by Raul: Hacienda Lopez de Haro Tempranillo, DeBardos Ars Romantica and Ars Mitica as well as Maetierra Quatro Dominvm Pagos. After successfully selling Winery Arts Reverse 6 and Matsu El Recio in the past few months, Bakkheia was excited to have the Veritas family to be amongst the first to try these new wines in Missouri.
And with a nice extra added touch, owner David brought out a special gourmet jar of Spanish anchovies…might I say they were so delicious and made Raul feel right at home! Thanks Veritas for starting the wine maker’s Missouri journey off in style!
