Outstanding scores for Bardos in Tim Atkin MW’s Ribera del Duero Report
Tim Atkin MW has recognized the work of Bardos in the Soria area of Ribera del Duero with three excellent ratings in his new Ribera del Duero Report 2025: 94 points for Bardos Villálvaro 2023, 92 points for Bardos Viñedos de Altura 2023, and another 92 points for a wine that will be launched next year, Bardos Viñedos de Altura Clarete 2023.
In addition, Atkin has once again placed Bardos among the Third Growth wineries in his annual classification, a distinction that underscores the project’s consistency and strong identity in one of the areas the critic considers essential for Ribera del Duero’s future: the high, cold and distinctive vineyards of Soria.
Below are Tim Atkin MW’s descriptions of each wine:
- Bardos Villálvaro 2023 – 94 points
“Modern, stony and intense, it has fine tannins, hints of graphite and violet, scented oak spices and a core of black cherry and blood orange. - Bardos Viñedos de Altura 2023 – 92 points
“Very much a high-altitude style, this is youthful and intense, with toasty oak top notes, blackberry, tangerine and bramble fruit and the concentration to age.” - Bardos Viñedos de Altura Clarete 2023 – 92 points
“It's a classic Ribera del Duero clarete with lots of colour and intensity (...) it's savoury and intense, with layers of wild strawberry, mountain herbs and kitchen spices and a nip of tannin.”
These ratings reinforce our commitment to high-altitude vineyards and the unique character of Soria’s Ribera del Duero.
