Classica Hacienda López de Haro is the first Rioja rosé among the fifty best wines in the world
18,244 wines from around the world competed in 2022 in the world's largest wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards, a prestigious event thanks to its rigorous evaluation system and blind tasting, as well as its panel of 250 expert judges, which included 41 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers. Despite these record numbers, only 50 wines are chosen as the Best in Show, in a second round of blind tasting. This year six Spanish wines reached that category. And one of the six is our!
Classica Gran Reserva Rosado 2009 received the highest score awarded by the judges, 97 points, and was included among the fifty coveted Best in Show in the final round. Classica is the first Rioja rosé to win this award in the competition's history, and the judges described it as "a delightful, enveloping, and pleasing vintage wine.” After Gran Reserva Tinto 2004 last year, the Classica collection takes Best in Show for the second year in a row.
“Our aim is for Spanish wines to compete alongside the world's best and accolades such as this year's Best in Show and last year's award for our red indicate that we are on the right route", explains Richi Arambarri, CEO of Vintae.
