Classica Gran Reserva 2012, chosen as the Best Rosé in the World
The 2012 vintage of our Classica Gran Reserva Rosado has secured the top position in the ranking of the best rosés curated by Master of Wine Elizabeth Gabay, widely recognized as the foremost expert in rosé wines worldwide.
Published by the esteemed magazine Club Oenologique, "The Rosé Report 2023" showcases over 220 wines from renowned appellations across both the old and new worlds. Scoring 96 points, Classica outperforms wines from regions where rosé holds significant importance, including Provence and the Rhône Valley in France, Tuscany and Campania in Italy, as well as other notable areas in Argentina and California.
Classica is also the most aged wine on the list, something that Gabay praises in premium rosés, the main focus of this report's analysis, and especially in the Riojan one, which she describes as a 'truly exceptional' wine, possessing 'the intensity, complexity, and maturity of a great wine'.
The author of "The Rosé Report 2023," Elizabeth Gabay MW, is considered the foremost expert on rosé wines worldwide and works as a critic, writer, and consultant. She has published several books on the subject, including "Rosé: Understanding the pink wine revolution" and "Rosés of Southern France" and frequently contributes to publications such as Decanter, The Drinks Business, and Meininger.
Classica is exclusively crafted in exceptional years. The previous vintage, 2009, managed to place among the top 50 wines in the world at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the few competitions where judges taste blind. It reached 97 points and was awarded a platinum medal, making it the first Rioja rosé to achieve such recognition.

Made with Garnacha and Viura from very old vineyards located in the Alto Najerilla, it is then aged for over four years in new and second fill Bordeaux barrels. This is a subtle wine with great personality that reveals its grandeur through finesse.
