Pandemonium, the new take on Rioja sparkling wines recognised by Vinous

Pandamonium Vinous Duo EN

Wine critic Joaquín Hidalgo has just published The Rioja Renaissance in Vinous, an article in which he analyses the recent evolution of Rioja and highlights projects that are exploring new paths.

Among them is Pandemonium, whose sparkling wines have received outstanding scores that underline their singular character:

Pandemonium Blanco de Blancas 2021 – 92 points
The 2021 Brut Blanco de Blancas is a Viura from La Rioja that was aged four years on its lees. On the nose, soft lime leads, joined by yeast, brioche and baked apple. The palate is dry and moderately weighted, delivering intensity and freshness with a chalky texture, though the mousse feels somewhat restrained despite the wine’s elevated acidity.

Pandemonium Blanco de Tintas 2021 – 91 points
The 2021 Blanco de Tintas is Garnacha Tinta. On the nose, light red fruit—especially cherry—mingles with autolytic notes from lees aging. Precise and clean on the palate, it shows high acidity, a crisp feel and notable flavor intensity. An unusual sour-cherry edge on the finish is rarely found in sparkling wines. Well made and energetically fresh.

Vinous is one of the leading international wine publications. Founded and led by the renowned Antonio Galloni, it brings together respected critics and a global subscriber base. Recognition of projects such as Pandemonium highlights the growing interest in wines that push the traditional boundaries of classic regions like Rioja.
